Problem

The following error occurs when attempting to install P4V version 2008.2 on Windows Vista:

Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action.
Solution
  1. Select the Windows Start | All Programs | Accessories menu item.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  3. Navigate to one of the following folders:
  4. For Windows Vista 32-bit:
    C:\Windows\system32
  5. For Windows Vista 64-bit:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64
  6. Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll.
  7. If this fails, the vbscript.dll file might not be located in the default location on the computer. Search the computer for the vbscript.dll file, and move it to one of the following locations:
  8. For Windows Vista 32-bit:
    C:\Windows\system32
  9. For Windows Vista 64-bit:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64

If the above steps do not fix the problem, then you should run the installation again with an installer log output to the directory from which you invoked p4vinst.exe. You can do this by entering the following command on the command line:

p4vinst.exe /v" /lvx .\p4vinst.log"

Include the file, p4vinst.log, as a mail attachment when contacting Perforce Support regarding this P4V installation problem.
