Information

Problem
Your P4DTG instance throws out the error:

Character reference "&#x1E" is an invalid XML character.

The actual character, "x1E", may be different.

The causes the replication for this job/issue to fail.
Solution

Cause

P4DTG uses XML to communicate betwen the replication ending and the JIRA plugin's java process.  This error means there's an illegal XML character in the message being sent to the JIRA plugin.

The problem chars are in the x01 -> x1F range, except for CR/LF/Tab (#x09 | #x0A | #x0D). These are valid UTF-8 characters but not legal within XML documents.

Resolution

Fix the job(s) that P4DTG is trying to replicate, looking for illegal characters in text fields.   Use the time when the error occurred to determined possible jobs.

This is usually control characters, such as a FormFeed or escape sequences in text fields like the description, resulting from a cut & paste of a terminal window.
